Lima taster tour and Last day Peru tourAny Peru trip is likely to include a stop in Lima, though most travellers choose to stay for just a day or two before travelling on to their next destination. Lima is a beautiful colonial city and there’s plenty to see so if your time here is limited, you’ll probably want a short introduction rather than an extensive city tour. That’s why we’ve come up with our Lima taster tour; a brief, private tour along the highlights of the city just to help you get your bearings.Lima is often the final stop on your Peru and Bolivia itinerary. You might arrive here on a domestic flight early in the morning and have the rest of the day to explore the city before catching your flight back home in the evening. Our Last Day Peru tour is a nice way to end your trip. No intensive sightseeing (you’ve done enough of that already), but just a private car with driver who will take you to all the interesting markets for some last-minute souvenir shopping and nice restaurants where you can indulge in your last Peruvian meal before boarding the plane back to the UK. |
Lima taster tourEase into the day with a bit of a lie-in this morning. You might be suffering from jet-lag after the long flight. Later this morning you’ll be picked up by taxi and (Spanish-speaking) driver. It’s not a guided tour, you’ll simply receive a brief description of the route your driver will be taking:From your hotel in Miraflores you’ll head along the coast and stylish boulevards of Lima to Barranco, a popular nightlife district and the green, leafy San Isidro district with its many parks and embassies. From there you’ll drive on to a wholly different side of Lima, the authentic working-class quarters San Miguel and Magdalena and back to Lima Centro to the main plazas like Plaza San Martin, the large shopping streets and finally the Plaza de Armas, the beating heart of the city. The tour ends at the Museo de la Nación, a fascinating museum that will give you insight into the various cultures and tribes of Peru. Everything you see here will come back at some point on your itinerary, so it’s a perfect introduction to the rest of your Peru trip. |

We’ll give you a couple of suggestions for lunch, and then you’re all set to hit the town on your own. The typical Latin-American churches, the historic facades, the huge plazas, take it all in and slowly soak up the Latino vibe. Towards the end of the day you can take a taxi back to the hotel (approx £1.50). If you’re itching to head south out of the city already, you could take the 1.30pm bus to Paracas (take a transfer from your hotel at 1pm), for our Coastal Road to Nazca module. |
Last day Peru tourArriving at Lima airport from another destination in Peru or Bolivia, you’ll probably have to wait until early evening to catch your connecting flight back to the UK. Our Last Day Peru tour is a great way to spend the day in Lima and nice little send-off from Peru.At the airport, leave your bags at the baggage depot so you can head into Lima with just a daypack. We’ll make sure there’s someone there to meet you in the arrivals hall, holding up a name sign. Your driver will take you to best markets in Lima, like the Artesania (arts & crafts) market, open daily from 10.30am – 8pm. You could spend hours here browsing among the hundreds of stalls selling all kinds of crafts, so if you’re looking for some last-minute souvenirs this is the place to be. Once you’re all shopped-out, grab some lunch or head to the coast. The Larcomar shopping mall is a great place to spend your last Peruvian hours. You’ll find lots of high-street brands here along with hip bars and restaurants. At the end of the day your driver will be waiting for you at the agreed place and time to take you back to the airport where its time to bid ‘adios’ to Peru and board the plane back home. |
