Peru and Bolivia accommodationWe go out of our way to find small-scale, authentic Peru accommodation that really reflects the local surroundings. For each of our Peru tours and Bolivia tours, we searched for the most authentic small-scale accommodation available in each area. This could be a traditional posada, a small hotel or a local guesthouse personally run by the owners. It could also be a colonial villa, a converted monastery, a finca (farm) or an Amazon jungle lodge. On Lake Titicaca, you can stay in a clay hut on an island in the middle of the lake, an eco lodge in the Sacred Valley, or a basic tent high in the Andes during your Inca Trail trek. Each accommodation has been handpicked and selected based on a combination of its location, atmosphere, quality of service and price. Have a look below to see what you can expect to find in each accommodation category. Click on the arrow next to each category to see more photos. If you have any questions, contact us. |
Special stay - Category 4For some of our trips we have found some truly special accommodation that's slightly more expensive than what we normally offer. For a small extra cost you'll get very comfortable rooms, more personal service, but also a lot more atmosphere. The river lodge during the Colca Canyon trip is a good example of our category 4 accommodation. The renovated sixteenth-century Franciscan monastery we use on our Sacred Valley tour also falls into this group. |

Simple accommodation - Category 2Sometimes when deciding where to stay in Peru or Bolivia, there aren't as many options, or accommodation isn't as important as what you'll experience when you step out of your front door. Our Basic accommodation category offers guests modest, yet reasonably comfortable accommodation options. You'll have your own room with your own facilities. Since walls can be thin at this type of accommodation, you may want to bring along a pair of ear plugs, just in case. The hotel on the Uyuni salt flats tour and the silver mine trip from Uyuni to Potosi in Bolivia are good examples of this group.

Basic accommodation - Category 1Simple, but an experience to remember. This accommodation is all about the experience. During the Inca trail trek you'll stay in a double tent with basic facilities. With a local family home on Lake Titicaca on our traditional Peru tour, you'll stay in a simple hut. On the Bolivia salt flats tour you'll share a dormitory and facilities with your fellow passengers for two nights. Some long journeys are made by comfortable (in Peru) or simple (in Bolivia) night buses. |

Urubamba was a real delight at the right time ... the staff were fantastic and the room was so comfortable. Also the hotel in Ollantaytambo was great. We were the only ones there but the hosts could not have done enough for us. They were amazing. Even the overnight bus trip was comfortable... Helen M. We enjoyed the hotels (particularly the ones in Cusco and Arequipa) - they were all different but comfortable and welcoming. Michele C. The Amazon lodge was superb as an entire experience. James B. Arequipa - shame I only had one night there - outstanding building all accommodations were of excellent quality and the hotel at Ica was outstanding - shame again to not have more time there to enjoy. Julia G. The hotel in Ollanta. A lovely restful hotel & very welcoming staff. Julie N. |
