About Peru Travel Plan

Peru Travel Plan is a small specialist internet based Peru tour operator, offering you a unique way of travelling around Peru and Bolivia. Our Peru travel specialists will help you build your own trip, handing you complete control of your holiday. We pride ourselves on providing excellent service levels which continue throughout the life of your booking.

Peru Travel Plan is part of Rickshaw Travel, an online adventure tour operator made by travellers for travellers. It is born out of the idea that there are hardly any independent travel options available for more adventurous travellers.

Our trips are very individual, so we're able to use small-scale, authentic accommodation with local character and a warm welcome. With Rickshaw Travel, you won't find large group coach tours but instead travel by trains, (mini)buses, private car and sometimes by plane. Flexibility and independence are fundamental, which is why we organise as much or as little as our clients wish.

We're able to keep our prices low because we don't produce flashy brochures or run luxury travel shops. We are based in Brighton, on the South Coast and we're the sister company of round the world specialists, Travel Nation.

Having done a degree in Spanish, I thought that I would put my language skills to the test by backpacking around South America for four months. After a month’s volunteer project in the incredible Galapagos, I headed to Peru and Bolivia with my guide book and planned my route as I went.

My travel companion and I had one aim; to experience both countries in the most adventurous way possible! We certainly felt that we’d accomplished this as we were sand-boarding down the sand dunes of Huacachina, white water rafting in Cusco, hiking through the Amazon jungle at night time looking for caimans, piranha fishing and crawling through the dust ridden silver mines of Potosi. I have high hopes of returning to South America in the near future to further explore these unique and magical countries!

Ever since I saw a picture of Machu Picchu at school I longed to see it for real. After spending over 2.5 years travelling around other parts of the world, I finally got around to it whilst on a 6 month trip to South America.

Having spent the last month exploring Bolivia, my first glimpse of Peru was from across the dark blue waters of Lake Titicaca a truly incredible sight and the perfect place to start my adventure in Peru. Peru and the surrounding regions have so much to offer every type of traveller; from the dense virgin rainforest teeming with wildlife to the snow-capped mountains and volcanoes, from the rocky Pacific coastline to the giant sand dunes.

Some of the most memorable moments from my time in Peru are first seeing Machu Picchu through the sun gate after trekking 45 Km along the Inca trail, fishing for Piranha in the Amazon jungle, seeing condors gliding over the Colca canyon, dune buggying around the stunning oasis of Huacachina and partying all night in Lima.

Rickshaw Travel is a UK based ABTA / ATOL bonded tour operator. We specialise in providing solutions for holiday makers who want to travel independently, taking in the highlights of a country, but with arrangements made in advance. Our travel style is to use comfortable, but smaller scale accommodation that has an authentic feel. We promote responsible tourism and also sponsor a number of community projects in the countries in which we operate.
